Twitter Tip: Short Tweets are Best

When you tweet, keep 'em short! Short tweets are easier to read and are therefore likely to attract more attention. Also, they are more easily retweeted that way. A retweet often has extra characters to account for, such as "RT" or additional commentary from the retweeter. I say, shoot for 120 characters.

Speaking of Twitter…wanna follow me?

  1. I'll follow you. Please follow me as well @VickiBensinger

  2. Do advise linking your Facebook Status with your twitter account? It's harder to follower your advice above when they're linked, right? @4our2cents

    • *follow (not follower)

    • Amy :

I'm not sure what you mean "linking your FB Status with your Twitter account." Do you mean setting it up so when you update one, the other is automatically updated? Personally, I prefer to update them separately. That way, I can tailor them according to who my audience is on Twitter vs. who it is on Facebook.

      • Yes, thank you. That's exactly what I meant. Currently twitter is updated automatically whenever we post to blog/fb but I definitely see the advantage of a separate and more defined tweet. I appreciate your quick response.

  3. I only started using twitter last week (I'm @YummyInspires) so thanks for the great tip! Am still learning!

  4. Thanks, I just really started to use twitter about a week or two ago and it is still confusing to me :) What is the difference between using a keyword or putting the # with it?

    • Amy :

A # makes it a hashtag. Hashtags are used to organize tweets into a particular stream so anyone following that hashtag can see posts in that stream. It's like creating a conversation around that particular topic. I hope that makes sense!
