Spreading the Word: Collaborating with Today's Creative Blog

In a little while, I'll be joining Kim from Today's Creative Blog for a live chat. (I've been talking about it on Facebook and Twitter this week so hopefully you'll join us!)

This post has got a dual purpose…

Are you here as a result of that chat?

Welcome! Let me get you started quick a minute…

This site is full of blogging tips, tools and tutorials. I do my best to explain things as easily as I can (perfect for the beginning or not-so-technical blogger). I aim for quick and easy-to-follow tips without a lot of geek speak. If you're new you might want to check out my Start Here page.

You also might appreciate my Archives page which lists every single post I've written. You can quickly scan the list and pick out the posts that apply to you! Of course you can always browse through my navigation bar up there at the top and see the other fun stuff 'round these parts.

And here's the blogging tip (I always gotta include a blogging tip!)

If you're a blogger, collaborating with other bloggers is a great way to spread the word about your blog.

Kim contacted me a while back and asked if I would be interested in doing something together. She has a solid stake in the home decorating/crafty niche and if you know me, I don't! :)

Today's Creative Blog

So, the win-win here is that I'm introduced to readers in a new niche and of a new blog (which gets more traffic than mine), and Kim, who gets a lot of blogging questions but has limited technical knowledge (she said that, not me :) ), provides something new and useful (great for stickiness!) to her readers.

See how that works? Two bloggers. Different niches. Win-win situation.

Collaboration doesn't require a whole lot more than just thinking outside the box and figuring out a way to work with others so it's beneficial to all involved.

What expertise do you have that you could creatively offer and mix with others? Go for it!

And also, if you haven't already, VISIT Today's Creative Blog where Kim showcases all kinds of creative awesomeness!

  1. Synz :

I really had a great time during the live chat, and I learn a lot. Thanks again. Hope there will be a next time. :)

  2. No I wasn't on the live chat however OMG this is also an area I am very keen on (huge understatement). Creating STUFF is in my blood. I am sometimes referred to around here as "what is she up to now?". This is awesome. Might have found another expert advisor.

    thanks for collaborating!

    • Amy :

Thanks for stopping by Maureen. We had a great time chatting (and might do it again!) so stay tuned. In the meantime, I hope you'll find some helpful stuff here.

  3. Hi Amy, I was at the live chat, and it was awesome..thanks
this are really good insights you have listed here. thanks I know I will be a regular on this blog from now…..
I wish I could download wordpress.org I now have the .com but that one dosnt let me get plug ins and I need that.

    • Amy :

If you ever get to the point where you want to make the switch from wordpress.com to wordpress.org, it's not too difficult to do!

  4. FYI: Here is a snapshot of what I have done this week THANKS TO YOU!!
1 Turned 1 very long post into 3 posts which funnily enough fulfilled my goal for the week
2 All 3 posts were inspired by you and what I have learnt
3 I made drop down categories (all by myself woohoo)
    4 I added 2 new pages to a newly created category W.R.A.P.
5 W.R.A.P. was created from what I learnt in "assigning myself posting days and naming it"
6 W.R.A.P. is every Monday and is my weekly review and progress (or not) LOL
7 I changed font to black and background to white from a quick .css tutorial courtesy of yourself
8 Also did a few other changes that has made it wonky but no major dramas (LOL)

The site is a working document just like my life. Thank you again from this newbie…..
DEFINITELY a technical wannabe…..what comes next?

    • Amy :

Wow, way to go! I always say you can never go wrong with creating great content—I think that's a great next step. And then just make tweaks here and there as you can think of them. Check out the main topics in the navbar or the Archives page to see other tips you might find helpful.

  5. Sounds like I missed a great chat! I have a question and hope I can get an answer here. I am starting a new blog. The question I have is I will be adding deals from different stores, such as Rite Aid or Target or a grocery store, etc. I would like to put the store logo image on my blog. Do I have to contact each store and get writting permission? I see many blogs with dozens of stores and can't imagine they contacted each one with permission to use their logo or image, but perhaps they have. Hoping someone here can shed some light on this.
