There's a new tool in Facebook that makes it easy to add people to your Acquaintances list and therefore see less of their posts in your stream.
Here's what to do:
- Go to your Friends page.
- Select "Acquaintances."
- Click "See all suggestions" in the right column.
When you add friends to your Acquaintances list they won’t be unfriended or notified. You’ll just see fewer of their posts in news feed.

Cool! I've been spending more and more time on Google+ simply because I can control my feeds. Now maybe I'll see some of my FB friends! Thanks, Amy!
Can you provide any more information about where the "acquaintances" button is? Can't find it but I want it! Thanks.
Shannon, go here: https://www.facebook.com/bookmarks/lists
Once you're there, you'll see the "Acquaintances" link in the center column.
Does that help?
I found it – THANKS!
Helpful!!
I'm so happy I found this, it is fantastic…. Thank you!
You're welcome!
I learned about an app called social fixer last week that makes it easy to customize a lot of the default options Facebook heaps on you from the guys and gals over at Life Hacker.
The options are awesome but Social Fixer is kinda a buggy flashing, "Social Fixer is taking too long to respond at least every five minutes while I'm surfing Facebook. I think I'm gonna give it the boot and I'm kinda sad to do so but glad I came across this post today so I do a little optimization to me Facebook Flow.
Thank you Amy for sharing this tip!
Love it – all about efficiency; just the kind of practical and to the point advice we all could use, Amy.
