Free, Fun, Vintage, Instagram-like Online Photo Editor: Pixlr-O-Matic

Pixlr-o-matic is a free online tool that gives you fun, vintage-y, Instagram-like app photo editing options. It's super easy to use and there are all sorts of tools you can use to enhance your images. For example, I used one of their stock images and went from this:

To this (in about 30 seconds). Of course I went all out with an effect, an overlay and a border, but you could pick and choose as many or as few as you'd like. The combinations are endless.

Here's a basic tutorial about using the tool:

  1. These arrows help you scroll through the process. Once your image is uploaded (which you do on the homepage), the first screen allows you to choose an Effect. Click the arrows and then you'll choose an Overlay. Click the arrows again and you'll choose a Border. You can Save anytime during the process if you're done by clicking the "Save" button.
  2. This is a group of icons that give you just a few options. The first icon allows you to add more Effects, Overlays and Borders to your strip (#3). The second icon is a very basic cropping tool. The third icon randomly adds stuff to your image.
  3. To scroll through the strips for each (Effects, Overlays and Borders), simply click on the far right option and it'll move the strip over and you'll see more options.

  11. Hi! I'm new to blogging. I found your blog by a recommendation from Only A Breath (she was actually giving advice to someone else) ;) I am wondering what the rules are for using stock photos from websites like the one you mention in this post. I would like to use them both on my blog and my FB blog page. I would also like to personalize them with original or famous quotes, or Bible verses. Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

  12. Pixlr is pretty sweet. If you can't ever figure out adobe illustrator like me, pixlr is the way to go! I go to all the time when I need photos tweaked.
