How to Schedule Facebook Page Updates Directly in Facebook

Guess what? Now you can schedule updates to your Facebook page up to 6 months in advance. Right from your Facebook page.

Here's how:

Can't see the video? Watch it here.

Video Notes:

  1. Go to the post Status/Photo/Video/etc. field and type your update (you've got to be on your page, not in your feed at this point).
  2. Click the small clock icon in the bottom left corner. Choose the year, month, day, hour and minute you want your update scheduled for. (The first time you use it, you may have to specify the date you started your page first. Or maybe that was just a weird glitch that happened to me. Not sure.)
  3. Click "Schedule."
  4. To edit, cancel or publish immediately, go to your Activity Log. You can get there by clicking "Manage" and "Use Activity Log."
  5. If you can't see your Activity Log, make sure you are "Using Facebook As" your personal profile (and you are an Admin for the page you want to schedule a post for).

I'd love it if you Liked my page!

  1. Thanks, Amy! Great tutorial as I don't think I would have known to switch back to my personal profile to see the activity log.

This is going to be great – for scheduling stuff to post while on vacation or even on a daily basis!

  2. thanks for this alert, Amy. Any idea if this will increase or decrease visibility of posts? I know there's a tough-to-crack algorithm and many times posts don't show up in the feeds of people who LIKE your page. I've wondered if Hootsuite posts are less visible than when I post LIVE. I manage FB pages for clients, so I'm interested in increasing visibility for my client's posts. Thanks in advance for any insight you have.

  3. Amy, FB doesn't publish pictures as the thumbprint on my post. What's up with that?

  4. Thank you SO much for this tutorial. I've spent most of the night off and on trying to figure out how to see my scheduled posts. Thanks again!

  5. Thanks! Great tutorial! I enjoy your site a lot but don't comment much as I'm usually reading from my phone.

  6. Amy

thank you for the tutorial, especially with the new facebook layout, this is definitely going to save me more time

  7. I've been thinking lately that I need to better utilize my time by scheduling FB posts, but thought I'd have to check out HootSuite or something similar. Once again, thanks!!
Also: Wondering why you use Growmap Anti-Spambot rather than Akismet?

  8. I tried to schedule posts this morning, but I wasn't able to. Is this a feature only for pages with over 400 fans? (currently 311 fans)

    • Hmmmm…not that I know of. It's new, so I expect it to have some bugs, so I'd try again in a few days.

  9. AWESOME! I have wondered about this for a long time b/c I can't always be on FB and I want to be more interactive. This is perfect, thanks Amy!

  10. So excited about this! I love Buffer, but since we can't yet tag other pages with it, I'm still posting directly from my FB page a lot. This will make things so much easier to streamline!

  11. You're awesome, Amy. I was just telling my hubby yesterday about the need to schedule my Facebook posts. Once again, you've come to the rescue and saved me a bunch of time. Thanks!

  12. This was so helpful and a welcome function! My to-do lists now has scheduling f/b posts on it~ as a priority!
    Thanks!

  13. Hi Amy, Great post. I went to FB straight away and tried it out. Works great. Thanks for another fab post!!

  14. This is great, thanks for letting us know…

  15. I've done this a couple of times now, worked great! I also had to put a founding date for the website I manage. I hope FB changes how the time/dates are scheduled. Kind of irritating to do everything separately. Would be nice to have a calendar visible & easy time input like TweetDeck for scheduling.

  16. Thanks so much Amy! I am going to try that.

Next on my list is to check your post on Pinterest button.

  17. Wow I never even knew you could do this!! I always learn something new here. And thanks for the detailed explanation as I'm one of those who has to have the step by step lol

  18. What I'm noticing is that if I have my FB page to automatically send a post to Twitter, when my scheduled FB posts go live, they do not automatically go to Twitter. Am I missing a setting or something?

  19. I'm just now watching the video and I was like, "hey, that's me!" on the links under your cover photo. Thanks for the tutorial, Amy!

  20. Hi Amy! I love this post – great tip! I never think to post to FB when I have time, and when I think to post to FB I'm nowhere near a computer to do it! This is awesome!

I have one question though – I noticed it automatically sets to GMT time zone. Is there a way to change that? I'm in Central??

Thanks so much for all the fun tips!

  21. I'll triple second the Thank You! I never would have found the activity log– as the Facebook help is typical Facebook help pages!

    Subscribing now :)

  22. I feel so…non-techy. I tried to do this, but when it got to selecting a month, it would only give me current and past months for this year, no September! Now what?

    Thanks Amy!!!

    • Strange. I think I would uninstall and try reinstalling. Sounds like maybe it got the hiccups in the middle of uploading.

      • Well, I tried two browsers. Nothing. I can't get September to come up. Any ideas? Anyone? Disappointed, as I have 30 posts for September, which is Children's Good Manners Month.
