How to Link Within the Same Page

Most links take a user from one page or post to another, or, from one site to another. But what if you want to link within the same page? For example, maybe you want the user to be able to click a link to get back to the top of the page, or to jump from one section of a post to another, sorta like a Table of Contents (like I did on my new homepage). Here's how to do it:

Video Notes:

Two steps is all you need:

  1. Use <a href="#example">Text</a> where you want the link to be.
  2. Use <a name="example"></a> where you want it to jump to.

  1. Amy thanks for your video's. I love to learn from you and I am going to utube to gather all of the helpful tips and tricks. I really did want to learn how to link the titles with the html tag. Cool. Jackie

  2. Your timing is perfect! THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to figure out how to make a row of images on each page of my new website link down to the content that goes with that image. This tutorial made this so easy. You just saved me so much time and prevented another headache!

  3. I wish I would have found your blog a LONG time ago. I've learned more (and had fun doing it) in the past two weeks than I have for the past 3 years of my…blogging experience. (I probably shouldn't even call it blogging…it was more like stumbling in the dark…)

I've just subscribed…and am so excited to learn more. I've taken in a lot of huge chunks because I have a lot of catching up to do…but I'm looking forward to learning in small pieces via e-mail. Thanks for culling the best for our benefit! You rock!
