Wow! So many of you have told me that you've already made your own landing page for Facebook. Way to go!! (Now I'm really feeling behind. LOL!)
Here's another Facebook tip: get a vanity URL.
What's a vanity URL?
Non-vanity URL: facebook.com/pages/Amy-Lynn-Andrews/125732080795248
Vanity URL: facebook.com/BloggingWithAmy
Why do I want a vanity URL?
Because it's a lot easier to remember, convenient to say, better branding, it looks much nicer written and printed (like on business cards) and is just plain fun.
How do I get a vanity URL?
Simply go to your Page and click the Edit Page button in the top right corner. Next, click the "Basic Information" link in the left column. You'll see the option to choose a username in about 3 rows down.
Original Instructions:
Once you have 25 fans (or "likers")I appears you no longer need 25 fans, so just go here.- Choose the page you want to name from the menu.
- Type in your name.
- Save.
Simple.
Do you have a vanity URL? What is it? What about a landing page?

Here at BloggingWithAmy you'll find tips, tools & tutorials about blogging and websites. In plain English. Want to
Thanks for that! I finally fixed mine up so it's http://www.facebook.com/TheFrugalGirl So much easier now!
Woohoo!
Thanks for the help!!!
We have the url but not the landing page yet. I'm not sure we will do the landing page, we'll have to think about that one! Our "to do" list is huge already!
If our personal FB is linked to our Fan FB it will direct people to your personal page so is there a way to switch it back? Now people will just be directed to my personal page which I DO NOT want! LOL
Thanks!!! I just set mine up!

Thanks so much for all your tips! I just sent up my Vanity URL page~!
Thanks!
Ok I need help! I thought I had it but I don't! I set my user name to LivingTheDomesticLife . I would think now I could go to http://www.Facebook.com/livingthedomesticlife and get my page but you dont get my page. (the user name was available and is set in my account). If I click the link from my blog to my face book page its http://www.facebook.com/living-the-domestic-life and then a bunch of numbers.
Any Advice?
Thanks so much for your site i've learned so some!
It seems to be working for me. Does it still not work for you?
wow thanks! I was wondering if I did something wrong because my facebook link was so long.
Hello. I'm new to this. I have set up my vanity URL but unfortunately it was set to my personal account instead of the correct account. Is there anyway to revert it or set it to where it should be. Thanks!
Hmmm…good question. Now sure about that one but it looks like this tutorial might help.
This was great help! I've been wondering for quite a while. I've even set my personal page too! Thanks.
Does it work? When I see it there are extra things added, but then I'm looking at it from my personal page?

Works!
Hi Amy,
LIke everybody else I have the same problem, your suggestion only works to changing the personal page and for me, like all the others above me, it has put the name of my business page to my personal page (because the personal page is the main account running the business page). We all thought by doing the vanity url our BUSINESS page would get the url, but it does not.
The article you direct us to fine to revert the existing vanity address but is of no value to fix the current problem of how to get one for your business page, as it just changes the personal page.
The question is this, what if like the other ladies here we actually want to append that vanity url to our business page and take it off our personal page??
cheers
Angela
Angela,
You can have a vanity URL for your personal page and a different vanity URL for your business page. Log into your business account, click on "edit page", click on "basic information" and look at "username". There you can select a username and check the availability. If available, it will confirm and then display your vanity URL. Hope that helps!

Hi Angela,
I think I understand the problem you're describing — that your personal profile is assigned the name you want for your page, correct? So, I'm guessing when you went to facebook.com/username, you forgot to select your page from the list?? If that's the case, unfortunately, there's not a way to change your username for your profile page (that I'm aware of).
You *can* change the name of your page (as long as you have less than 100 "likers") using the method Richelle described. (Thanks, Richelle!) If you did mistakenly select your personal profile (as opposed to your page) when setting your username and now it is no longer available, consider using something very similar by adding "the" in the front, adding "page" at the end, etc. I hope that helps!
Thanks again, Amy! I always know when I need simple, easy to follow instructions to come to you first!! I think I need a permanent parking spot here!
YOU ROCK!
(oh, and I LOVE the way you have your front page set-up. It makes so much sense and helps me get where I need to go quickly and painlessly. The only problem: I see lots of areas I need to work on, so I end up doing waaay more research than I had planned. (but that's my problem, not yours!)
Thank you! I finally got my vanity URL in place. You make it so simple!
Working of getting the 25 likes it takes to get the vanity url…any suggestions? I have been adding content to my blog and have seen my traffic increase quite a bit, but haven't had many readers actually like my FB page. I personally will sometimes hesitate to like a blog with only a few other likes. Any advice for getting over the initial hump?
Offer something on your FB page that you don't offer on your blog. So, maybe that's a free download or extra tips or something else that would make people be interested in following you on FB. The other option is simply to ask people to follow you on FB. Sometimes a courteous request is all it takes. But either way, make it worthwhile for people to follow you there.
Wow, so EASY! Thanks, Amy!
I have been reading through all these posts with interest…It has always bothered me that my fan page for our Catholic Family Apostolate (Arma Dei) has an ugly fan page address with extra numbers and slashes. I tried to follow the instructions posted…
The fan page is already called "Arma Dei"…and I would love to have http://www.facebook.com/ArmaDei but "ArmaDei" is not available…probably because it's the name I selected. What am I missing?
I really don't want to add any other words.
Is there anything else I can do to acquire http://www.facebook.com/ArmaDei ?
Well, that's always a bummer for sure. If it's taken by someone else, your best bet is to probably try to come up with another alternative or something close. Or maybe another phrase that also relates?
Awesome tip…been wondering how to do that! So super easy. Thanks, Amy!
OK, I originally came her to learn how to make a blog button for my blog, and I am learning all kinds of other things I can do. LOL Thank you so much for all the GREAT advice.
You are very welcome! Glad it's helpful.
OMG you are just the rock solidist bestest blog tipper I have come across! don't ya just love my verbs!) Just read your tip on the new facebook change (which I will tell you I was wondering what that meant) and then I saw this little tip which I was also wondering about! Thank you! Just got my little URL's in tact
I think!
How do i get that nice "notify me of followup comments" at the end of my post?
Hi Jessica, glad you stopped by. Thank you. (That's a WordPress plugin called Comment Reply Notification.)
Thank you so much! I just started a FB page and thought I had to get 100 likes for a vanity URL. Finding out that I've already got enough made my night, and it was so easy to do. Thank you!!
Just got mine! Thanks for the instructions!
Congrats! You're welcome!
Do you need 25 likers before you can create a Facebook Like Button for your webpage? I've been trying to get mine to work all evening without success. I only have 19 followers on Facebook, even though I have many more on my webpage. Do I have to wait until I reach 25?
I don't think you have to have 25 Likes to create a Like Box. You do have to have 25 to get a vanity URL though. If you want to make a Like Box now, just grab the URL you have now. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much, Amy! You are amazing!
Thank you so much for this! I don't know how anyone is supposed to figure out all of these weird little details without you!
LOL, you're crackin' me up. All I gotta say is, thank goodness for Google! Glad it's helpful.
