I know some of you are creative and crafty and design-inclined. And I'll bet some of you are so much so that you could turn your skills into an income stream. (And by the way, even if you're like me and couldn't turn your design skills into an income stream, this site is worth visiting just for the awesomeness of it!) Let me explain…
Minted is a site I ran across recently. I'll say upfront that I have not bought anything from this site so I can't vouch for it personally (and therefore am not using my affiliate link in this post), BUT I have drooled my way through it!! It's FULL of amazing stationery, invitations and all sorts of gorgeous. (I was going to show you some examples, but I love just about all of them. So, go have a look. I'll wait…)
The reason I'm posting it here, though, is that I see they have something called the Design Challenge. From the site:
- We hold design challenges to uncover your design genius.
- Your winning designs are sold on minted.com.
- You earn cash prizes and 6% of ongoing revenues. (emphasis mine)
- Our best designers are commissioned to create minted originals.
So, if you have any kind of graphic design background, this might be a way to make some money! Here's a list of their current and upcoming challenges.
Anyone have experience with Minted?

I have a stationery studio and stumbled upon Minted at the very beginning. Not only has it become a second source of income, but it is where I really figured out my design style – thanks to awesome feedback from the seasoned pros. Everyone is encouraging and so nice. While it's a competition, it's hardly competitive (in the negative way) and good designs are always appreciated – whether a designer new or old. I think I've been participating for over a year and I'm addicted. It's my perfect creative outlet – which I need b/c my other source of income is from being an accountant!
Great feedback, Lauren! Thank you for chiming in. (And I just got back from visiting your site/blog. LOVE your style.)
THANKS for this!!!! I'm totally going to check into it!
I don't comment much here (shame on me!) but I read most ALL of your posts in my reader. Love your blog.
Woohoo! I hope it works for ya.
Fabulous Amy! I've been designing for friends and family for a couple of years now, but I haven't been brave enough to try to sell it on my own website- the thought just seems daunting. I'm going to check out this site now!
Oh cool! I hope it works for you.
