Gmail Adds Rich-Text Signature

So, remember my last post about creating and using signatures in Gmail? And my frustration that Gmail didn't allow you to add links or other interesting things to your sig?

Well, guess what? Gmail just added a rich-text editor to it's signature feature.

How to Use Gmail's Rich-Text Signature Feature

1. Go to your Gmail settings (click for larger view):

How to use gmail's signature feature

2. Scroll to "Signature" and compose. Use a different signature for each email address (if you have multiple addresses):

3. Save your changes!

Not only can you add links and images, but you can format the text and font as well.

I'll be giving this a test run for sure!

  1. Can you specify a different signature for each e-mail address? I have 3 e-mail addresses that I send and receive from in one gmail account.

  2. Ooohhh! That's great news. I'm going to activate it later today.

  3. Yeah! I started using Firefox just so that I could use Wisestamp but never got around to it. Now, this is much easier! Thanks for the heads up.

  4. You know what's weird? I have my domain e-mail set up through Google apps (which uses gmail) and they don't have the Rich Text Editor as an option! How lame! I was so excited too….oh well, it worked in my regular Gmail account. Thanks, Amy!!

  5. I gave it a try….a little annoying. The signature goes all the way at the bottom, so if there are a couple threads, replies, etc, it goes way under those. Doesn't really make sense.

  6. Jen :

Any suggestions on what to put in your signature line? Presumably a link to your site and your Facebook page…

  7. I STILL do not have this feature and can't figure out why. I have all the updates etc, but not this feature. Any ideas?

    • Amy :

Hmmm…. If you're sure you've looked in the right place and still don't see it, I'd google it to see if others have had the same problem. Strange.

I had composed a rich text in my gmail signature and used it for a long time but, while composing a mail and I had tried to copy some text from another mail, suddenly a message appeared which gaven the option to change into plain text and I clicked it. From then my signature is appearing in plain text and in the setting page, on the signature part I could not able to find the rich text.

So, I want to know that how can I able to get rich text in my signature setting page ?

Kindly let me know at the soonest possible.

    • Amy :

Try this: Compose a new message. Click the "Rich Formatting" link directly above the main body. Discard that message. Compose a new one and your rich text signature should be there.

Finally I have solved it. Practically, once the Rich Text after changing into Plain Text cannot be changed from the signature editing page. I had opened the compose mail page and changed the Plain Text into Rich Text and then when I opened the setting page I had found that the Rich Text has came into the signature editing header.
        Any way Thank you.
