How to Easily Check Today's Stats in Google Analytics

If you're like me, you want to know things now. One of the downfalls of Google Analytics is its lack of real-time stats. (That's one of the reasons I use other stat trackers too.)

Another thing you'll notice about Google Analytics is the default setting which, upon login, automatically shows you stats starting from yesterday and going back 30 days. They do this of course, because their stats are not real-time and therefore it generally doesn't make sense to show you today's stats anyway.

But in any case, if you are someone willing to deal with the delay and you still want to know what has happened today (albeit 4+ hours ago) here's something you might like:

How-To Geek has created a bookmarklet that you simply drag and drop into your toolbar. Then, whenever you want to check today's stats, simply click on the link in your toolbar and (assuming you are logged in) today's stats will pull right up. Handy.

I'm curious…how often do you check your stats?

  1. I didn't know about the bookmarklet..thanks for sharing.

  2. We check about once a week or if we know we are featured in something.

  3. I didn't know about the bookmarklet, either. Interesting!

    I check a few times a week.

  4. I'm in the new stage so check my stats too much! It's simply exciting to see that others are visiting to read all my hard work. Speaking of, my launch would not have happened as smoothly without you, Amy. Thank you SO much for the many wonderful resources you have on your website. You are one of my new favorite websites!

  5. Hello Amy, Your tutorial about wordpress setup is really good. Can you tell me how to get email subscription below the each post? with interesting tag line.

    Example: " Don't miss anything!
Why not sign up to receive all my updates for FREE in your inbox?!
C'mon, all the cool kids are doing it. ;) "

  6. I check twice in a week and mainly watch the region, main source and keywords while searching.
