Do You Know What EOM Means?

Email Tip Using EOM
One of the warning lights on the dashboard in our car came on recently. It's not an emergency, but our car needs a visit to the mechanic. My husband and I verbally agreed we should take it in, but I knew we should have it in writing or we would both forget.

So, I sent him an email as a quick reminder. This was the Subject of the email:

Can you make an appointment for the car? EOM

EOM means End of Message. In other words, "There's no need to open this email and/or reply back to me. What you just read there in the Subject line was all I needed to say."

It's a handy time-saving tool…except when the person you're writing to doesn't know what EOM means and then opens the message and then replies to you to ask what EOM means and why the message was blank. (If that happens, just create an email template.)

Spread the word below so we'll all save time! :)

  2. LOVE IT! EOM

  3. well…how simple and handy is THAT! Thanks, Amy
    :-)

  4. Thanks for this.
So many times I'm never quite sure if a message needs a reply and obviously the other person thinks the same. I worry that we could email/text all day if someone doesn't end it. This would make it very clear cut that nothing more needs to be added.
I love this and will definitely be using it from now on.
    Thanks again!

  5. Thanks Amy! Great idea!

  6. I just use at the end of the subject line when that is the case. It is pretty clear and not another TLA someone has to ask about. :-)

  7. Fiddle. There were supposed to be (less-than/greater-than symbols) around the word "end," but they did not show up.

  8. EOM – End of Month? : )

Amy, take a look at my new blog if you have time. I must have read 50 of your posts to get this blog going. TY, TY.

I have recently joined the battle against prostate cancer : ( This blog is to try to bring awareness and comfort to my brothers in the battle or men that should be aware.

    Keep up the good work,

  12. I didn't know about this! Definitely a time saver, thanks Amy!

  13. Amy, I must admit that at first I was skeptical and thought "Do we really need another acronym"? This is probably one of the most useful ones. Big time saver. Thanks for sharing. :-) EOM

  14. I've only seen NM for "no message;" good to know an alternative!
