Yesterday I talked about optimizing your exit pages (and how to find your exit pages in Google Analytics). Of course, keeping track of all your stats—not just exit pages—is a good idea.
I just came across this very helpful post at KISSmetrics: A Beginner's Guide to Google Analytics 5. It provides a great rundown of what's available in the newest (as of this writing) version.
Not sure if you're running the latest version or not?
Look in the top right corner of your Analytics screen. If you're using the old version, you will see a "New Version" link like so:
Simply click the "New Version" link to switch to the new (beta) version. You can always switch back if you'd like by clicking "Old Version" like this:

Thank you for this information! I didn't know about Google Analytics, so went to your 'how to install' post after reading this, and followed your advice. Now, I'm learning so much about my website, and how quickly I lose people. Time to fix that!

Well, I finally got Google Analytics installed and I think I should uninstall it. I liked the overinflated, non-specific numbers I was getting from my other stat program. Ho-hum. I suppose I should look at a positive side of it….I have more work to do to beef up those numbers

Google Analytics can be EXTREMELY intimidating at 1st. BUT DO NOT GIVE UP! Once you are familiar with its use and are able to navigate, it is probably the most powerful tool that you have to understand the content of your blog (where people are coming from and where they are going on your blog).

I apoligize if you have previously covered this…I have been blogging for well over a year, for some reason (did I think I didn't need?) I did not sign up for Google Analytics. I just did and have great number for only being up 10 days…however it kindof looks like I'm "new" and of course this is not good. So, is there anyway to "back track" my numbers and uniques?? Thank you as always for your time!!
